Duncan's appointment with a very nice surgeon went very well this morning. She thinks his leg will heal well without surgery, and because he's so young it should heal quickly. He'll need to have another x-ray later this week to be sure nothing has shifted, but if all goes well he may only need to have his splint on for a couple of weeks, with a few more of taking it easy.
We put an e-collar on him at night, and he doesn't object to it as much as I expected he would. During the day when we can watch him it comes off. He's being so good, and hasn't really tried to chew or lick his splint at all. He's getting lots of snuggling time, and since his pills have left him sleepy he seems quite happy to settle in on a lap and doze off. That may not last, though; his appetite has reappeared, so his energy level may not be far behind!
